The metaverse opens up new horizons for a new CX universe
The metaverse will unleash amazing creativity and open new boundaries and horizons for brands and companies.

Forward-thinking consumer apparel companies are using augmented reality to show how tailor-made shirts will look to the consumer in 360 degrees. This experience allows them to explore virtual showrooms, try on items, and get a 360-degree view of what they are looking for. Brands have the opportunity to create fully realized immersive 3D experiences and redefine customer relationships. Considered as the convergence of three-dimensional worlds into shared virtual experiences, the metaverse is the path the tech industry is taking and around which companies in the tech sector are building brands and new universes.
“Thanks to extended reality (XR) technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), brands can now impress their customers with engaging, immersive experiences.” (Bernard Marr, Forbes, The 8 Biggest Consumer And Customer Experience Trends In 2022)
Transactional digital experiences are great for just that, but how can branding, competitive advantage and long-term value be improved in the future? Empathic customer experience (CX) should be a key factor for companies contributing to the metaverse from day one. It’s really about how customers perceive the company in every interaction, whether online or offline. Brands can deliver more personalized and meaningful experiences because the nature of the metaverse is unique to each individual user in their digital universe. The brands themselves are working to create virtual stores on the metaverse platforms where digital goods can be bought and worn in a digital environment.
Customers are required to own a digital wallet to store NFTs, but brands are also helping customers create digital wallets as part of the membership experience for those new to the world of collecting NFTs. Metaverse platforms can also include branded digital assets for purchase, including digital collectibles and non-fungible tokens to provide a more holistic shopping experience and brand engagement in one. The metaverse goes beyond traditional display advertising to create more engaging and less aggressive brands. The metaverse signals a shift from traditional display advertising to creating branded experiences that are more engaging, and less invasive than advertising as we see it today.
Ways to achieve this include releasing digital versions of new products or experiences, creating games or performances in virtual spaces, or inviting viewers into the digital world. By transferring products from the real world to the virtual space, brands can provide customers with a hyper-personalized experience without worrying about the limitations of the physical world. Thanks to the metaverse, retail brands can now connect and interact with users around the world, breaking the boundaries of creativity with ideas that might not be possible in the real world. Augmented reality (AR) has already been applied to the customer experience to enrich the customer’s view of the physical world.
We can also understand it as a collection of shared digital spaces that use virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) to become more realistic. Wikipedia defines it as a collective shared virtual space created by the fusion of virtual augmented physical reality and physical persistent virtual space, including the sum of all virtual worlds, augmented reality, and the Internet. Metaverse is defined as a three-dimensional virtual world that combines different virtual reality experiences into a single interactive environment so that users can actively interact with each other and the virtual world. In other words, the metaverse is a unified virtual world where you can connect with colleagues, communicate across geographic boundaries, and optimize customer interactions at scale. The metaverse is a digital space that is always active and exciting: you turn on the viewer and you can see and work in the digital world. You will be able to make money, own digital assets, and overcome the seeming lack of a sense of the true community that currently exists on the web.
In his recent Facebook Rebrand ad, Zuckerburg described the metaverse as “the internet embodied in which you are in the experience, not just looking at it.” Rather, it is a general term describing how the digital experience will evolve into something in which the boundaries between the digital and the physical become blurred. Here, the Metaverse is usually portrayed as a kind of “donned” digital Internet — a manifestation of real reality, but based in a virtual world (often similar to a theme park). But what is important is to acknowledge that the metaverse is not a game, equipment, or an online game. But in full measure, the metaverse is becoming the gateway to most digital opportunities, a key component of all physical experiences, and the next great work platform. Brands exploring the metaverse should invest in technology and create custom roles to design the metaverse experience for customers. In fact, the content you create today will be the first of many 3D experiences you will create for the metaverse in the future.
The idea behind Metaverse is to promote more multi-dimensional interactions, where online users can immerse themselves in digital reality instead of simply observing or experiencing it. Today, metaverse is a shared virtual space where people are represented by digital avatars. Virtual space-digital content experiences are usually regarded as “metacosmic prototypes” because (A) they lack game goals or skill systems; (B) are continuous virtual gatherings; ( C) provide near-synchronized content updates; (D) real people are represented by digital avatars.
But with the metaverse, there is definitely an opportunity to get rid of boring forms, messy text and vague words, and provide customers with a real virtual experience comparable to the simulated world. And if we look at the metaverse from the perspective of customer experience, this evolution has many benefits. However, companies will need to realign their marketing strategies to incorporate new forms of digital assets and metaverse platforms to stay on top and meet customer expectations for next-generation customer engagement and engagement. How do you envision the metaverse as part of your CX strategy?
